Date back to September 2015 when UNESCO Chair on Theatre Education (located at the Central Academy of Drama) proposed to launch a new international organization, which was named afterward “World Theatre Education Alliance”, 5 institutes including Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University, Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art, Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, Department of Theatre of Chuang Ang University, Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary University of Theatre, Cinema and Television responded to this proposal.
Thereafter, National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts from Bulgaria, Nord University from Norway, The Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art from Poland, Russian State Institute of Performing Art, Institut del Teatre from Spain, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama from the Great Britain, have followed this proposal successively.
On 18th October, 2016, Director’s Conference of World Theatre Education Alliance was held on Changping Campus of the Central Academy of Drama Thirteen (13) presidents of world-famous drama schools from Russia, England, Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Georgia, Japan and China were present at the conference.
Declaration of World Theatre Education Alliance was signed and the new Bylaw of World Theatre Education Alliance was discussed and approved in the conference. Hao Rong, vice president of the Central Academy of Drama, was elected as secretary-general of the Alliance with unanimous votes.
